The Quilt Ministry

Can you touch a prayer?  Can you pull it close and feel its comfort?
You can if it’s part of a Prayer Quilt.
The idea is simple...the Prayer Quilt Ministry will make a quilt for someone who is going through a difficult time.  When finished, heavy threads are stitched through the quilt layers with the ends left free to be tied with a knot.  That is where you come in - you tie the knots while a silent prayer is offered for someone who needs to be lifted up.  What makes the quilt so special is not the workmanship, pattern or color, but the fact that prayer is symbolically tied into each quilt.  The quilts are a statement of our faith and a testimony to our belief in God
and the power of prayer.

Who will receive the Prayer Quilts?
If you know of someone going through a difficult time or you  yourself are going through a  difficult time (surgery, hospitalization, recovery, personal  difficulties, etc.) please contact the church office for more information.  Request forms are available at the Info Center and can be turned in at the Info Center or church office.

You can join the Prayer Quilt Ministry! You don’t need to be an experienced sewer, just have a heart for prayer, service and crafts. Prayers & Squares is hosting monthly quilting bees for the winter/spring season.  Come and be a part of this meaningful ministry that shares love and prayers through the beauty of quilts.  No experience necessary.  Meeting dates for Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 are Sept 17, Oct 22, Nov 19, Jan 21, Feb 25, Mar 17.  We meet from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Powerhouse.  Mark your calendars now!

For more info, please contact Alice Cantwell (847-845-0452) or Gail Schrader (847-548-5735).
